March 6, 2023The Scale-Up Programme 2023 call opens today and will look for entrepreneurs from all over Europe to present their innovative solutions in the field of urban mobility. This is a program co-funded by EIT Urban Mobility, an initiative of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology.

The call will be open until May 7, after which an evaluation phase will take place until June 12, when the 12 selected startups will be unveiled to join the program and receive all the necessary support to ensure their international progression and achieve their business goals.

Through the Scale-Up Programme, the selected startups will receive individualized business mentoring and training from sector experts, as well as access to investors and potential customers to expand their projects and seek new markets, as the programme grants them access to networking sessions with representatives of municipalities and industry to explore pilot implementation. Additionally, they are offered greater visibility through international high-level events such as Tomorrow.Mobility (Barcelona, Spain), among others.

A program focused on improving urban mobility sustainably

Scale-up Programme is a startup scalability and acceleration programme for solutions focused on urban mobility. It is led by CARNET and developed in collaboration with Digital Hub Logistics Hamburg, Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering (IAO), Niedersächsisches Forschungszentrum Fahrzeugtechnik (NFF), PowerHUB, and UnternehmerTUM, and with the support and funding of EIT Urban Mobility, which is focused on providing innovative solutions to accelerate the transition of mobility towards a truly multimodal, integrated, and user-centric transport system.

The startups presented in this edition must be related, orientatively, to one of the following areas: Integrated Mobility, Mobility Infrastructures, Sustainable Urban Logistics, Pollution Reduction, Future Mobility, Inclusive Mobility, Mobility and Energy, Active Mobility, Intelligent Infrastructures, Creation of Public Spaces, among others. It is therefore a cross-thematic program focused on improving mobility in all its areas.

SOLUM, Vadecity, Hopu, and Meep are some of the startups driven in previous editions

The experience through the Scale-Up Programme acceleration allows participating startups to expand their business and reach new goals.

From previous editions, successful startups stand out that have achieved great growth such as Meep, a multimodal mobility platform that, together with Aena, launched an application to connect the different forms of city transport; Hopu, a startup recently acquired by Libelium that develops solutions in the field of air quality, smart cities, and infrastructures; SOLUM, a startup that creates parking and charging stations for micromobility (bicycles, e-bikes, e-scooters) for private clients or sharing companies that need users to park or charge their devices, all powered by solar energy; or Vadecity, a Catalan solution that implements secure parking for bicycles and with the possibility of e-bike charging, among many others.
