The Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia Wins the Competition to Develop the Barcelona Urban Tech Hub (BUTH)

As an organization dedicated to promoting innovation in urban development, CARNET is excited to endorse the Barcelona Urban Tech Hub project proposed by the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC), which has recently been announced by the Barcelona City Council as one of the winning projects to revitalize three disused industrial buildings in the city. This ambitious project is part of a plan to transform Barcelona into a global hub for urban tech innovation, bringing together entrepreneurs, researchers, and investors to create a thriving ecosystem for urban tech startups.

The Barcelona Urban Tech Hub project will revitalize a disused industrial building and is designed to attract innovation, talent and investments while addressing some of the most pressing challenges that urban environments face today. By providing a platform for innovators to collaborate and develop new solutions, the project aims to create a more competitive, sustainable and equitable city, adapted to challenges such as the ecological and digital transitions.

One of the key strengths of the Barcelona Urban Tech Hub project is its focus on collaboration and knowledge-sharing. By bringing together a diverse range of stakeholders, including startups, corporations, universities, and public institutions, the project aims to create a rich and dynamic innovation ecosystem that fosters creativity, experimentation, and learning.

To support this collaborative culture, this hub will provide training and talent attraction programs, support for companies in open innovation, experimentation laboratories, and performances, facilitating knowledge-sharing and networking. Through this project, they will also incubate companies related to urban technologies, develop prototypes and encourage innovation among professionals from different sectors, among other things.

As a supporter of the Barcelona Urban Tech Hub project, CARNET is excited to see the impact that this project will have on Barcelona and beyond. By bringing together a diverse range of stakeholders to collaborate on solutions to the most pressing urban challenges, we believe that the project has the potential to create a more sustainable, resilient, and equitable future for all. We look forward to working with IAAC and other partners to make this vision a reality.
