CARNET Presents 15 Disruptive Urban Mobility Solutions to Investors at Smart City Expo 2021
- The 15 emerging companies have the objective of defining the future of mobility in our cities and the lives of their citizens
- 6 of the projects presented are from Spain as the successful Shotl, an on-demand transport mobility platform, or Meep, the app developed with Aena to connect different forms of transport in the city
- Auve Tech’s autonomous bus and Elonroad AB’s electric highway, are disruptive examples of the rest of the European startups in the programme
The 15 European startups that are part of the ScaleTHENGlobal acceleration program led by CARNET, the research hub on future mobility promoted by SEAT, Volkswagen Group Innovation, and the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya · BarcelonaTech (UPC), have presented their projects at Smart City Expo World Congress 2021.
ScaleTHENGlobal, which is supported and funded by EIT Urban Mobility, an initiative of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology focused on providing innovative solutions to accelerate the transition from mobility to a truly multimodal transport system, selected the 15 most promising startups in the European ecosystem to be present at SCEWC 2021 and have the chance to achieve visibility among investors and the necessary financing to scale their projects. For this reason, each startup made today a three-minute pitch presenting their solution, always focused on improving the urban mobility of the future and with it, the lives of the citizens of our cities, before an audience made up mainly of investors and different profiles of the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The national territory, represented by 6 of the startups in the programme
Among the 15 startups participating in the programmme there are 6 Spanish projects. Two of them stand out and they are in a more advanced phase of development and implementation: Shotl, a Catalan startup that has recently been acquired by the Dubai company Swvl that offers an on-demand transport mobility platform that connects to people who have the same destiny; and Meep, a multimodal mobility platform that will launch together with Aena an application to connect the different forms of transport in the city.
