The First Demoday Event for the 5G TURBO Accelerator Programme Was Hosted in the City of Vigo

  • 5G TURBO is an acceleration program supported by EIT Urban Mobility, an initiative of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), a body of the European Union
  • The programme is developed by a consortium formed by NextMove, CTAG, CARNET, NFF, Mobile World Capital and FundingBox

Vigo hosted on July 6th and 7th the Demo Day of the European 5G TURBO Accelerator Pogramme, co-funded by EIT Urban Mobility. This event marked the first face-to-face meeting between the 20 participating start-ups and the consortium partners, who have been working together since May 9th, when the programme kicked off. The programme included sessions to expand their capabilities in 5G technologies and connectivity services for the development of innovative solutions in the field of urban mobility. During the second day, the participants presented their start-ups, progress and short-term perspectives to the jury.

After deliberation from the panel of experts, the startups advancing to the second phase are:

  • PANTOhealth (Germany)
  • Park4Dis (Spain)
  • Social Tech Projects (Denmark)

  • ZenParking (Romania)

During the upcoming four months, the selected start-ups will continue with the intensive mentoring and coaching offered by the acceleration programme, which will conclude with a final event organized by Mobile World Capital in the city of Barcelona, where the four best ones will be selected.

EIT Urban Mobility Thematic Accelerator Programs

Out of 244 applications, 62 startups were selected to participate in the five thematic accelerator programmes offered by EIT Urban Mobility. The startups aim to solve challenges related to sustainable urban logistics, urban air mobility, electric mobility, energy and public realm, and 5G technologies. Together, they represent various mobility subsectors, from cybersecurity and software-based products that improve connectivity and autonomy, to hardware that visually shapes and changes the public realm.

Among other offerings, the programmes include one-on-one business mentoring, access to investment initiatives and funding instruments, and participation in the EIT Urban Mobility community.

All startups contribute to EIT Urban Mobility’s goal of making a sustainable impact while creating more liveable cities. In addition, they cover all European regions as they come from 20 countries.
