Now that the world is inclined to turn a new page, it is a perfect moment to look behind and realise that one of the benefits of the pandemic is the digitalisation in many sectors and areas, some of them urged by necessity.
In our field, recent research suggests that the impact of these events in transportation and mobility, might raise teleworking, reduce single car usage intentions and increase scepticism for public transport ridership. However, data has not shown yet that these trends are here to stay.
Research institutions, companies, public sector and society in general need to boost innovation together to accomplish a common sustainable and digital mobility of the future.
The next edition of the CARNET's Symposium on Urban Mobility Challenges is going to tackle digital twins in mobility and transport. Huge efforts are being made from the public sector as well as from the industry to build these digital twins.
