Students From Breda University of Applied Sciences Visit CARNET

Third-year International Spatial Development students from Breda University of Applied Sciences (NL) went on a field trip to Barcelona between 20 and 24 April with the objective to explore the urban planning traditions of the city and visit companies operating in the domains of urban design, planning, and mobility.

On 22 April, the students visited Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya · BarcelonaTech (UPC) (Campus North and South) where the offices of CARNET are located. Dr. Mónika Bachofner (Research Manager) and Dr. Laia Pagès (Executive and Scientific Manager at CARNET) gave a presentation to the students about CARNET’s goals, ways of working, activities and projects varying from blockchain-focused mobility projects to more socially oriented ones, such as FURNISH and Citython. Afterward, students explored the campus of UPC and found out more about the educational opportunities in architecture, engineering and mobility offered there.

CARNET and BUAS have a well-established relationship which has been maintained since 2017 through the annual visits of BUAS student to CARNET, the internships BUAS students have done at CARNET and the EU projects where the two institutions have collaborated (e.g., Citython Eindhoven). In the future, both institutions are eager to maintain their collaboration to create synergies between the work developed from both centers and reinforce the value of involving students in projects to develop fresh ideas that are able to transform and improve our cities.
