Project Description and Motivation
The project tackles the physical and mental well-being of the elderly through active mobility, community engagement, and public space design. As well it creates accessible and sustainable design parameters and urban elements for cities.
ELDERS enhances the elderly’s social inclusion and wellbeing by identifying, testing and improving walking routes in Masquefa through participatory processes and the implementation of new urban elements. The assessment of the routes informs the co-design of urban elements, developed by the elderly and the design team (composed by IAAC students and design professionals), to improve the public space in the routes, enhancing accessibility and encouraging active mobility.
