Motivation and Description
Pollution and traffic congestion are major global challenges today – and the way freight services move around cities plays a massive role in this. Addressing sustainability and digitalisation in urban freight transport will help city planners to facilitate last-mile delivery and servicing in the context of urban mobility, through improved design, dynamic use of infrastructure and an appropriate mix of policy tools.
DISCO aims to revolutionize urban logistics and planning, facilitating the transition to sustainable, digital cities using the Physical Internet model. The project involves logistics, mobility, technology providers, and cities.
DISCO will develop and implement innovative, data-driven solutions for efficient urban logistics, optimizing space usage and integrating fixed and mobile infrastructure. This collaborative effort aims to move from outdated practices to freight-efficient, zero-emission, nearby delivery models.
