Barcelona will be the European  capital of urban mobility with CARNET as a technological partner

MOBILus has become the new innovation community (KIC) of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), a network that positions Barcelona as the European capital of urban mobility. This platform is formed by 48 partners from 15 countries that include cities, companies, universities and research centres. One of the partners is CARNET, which has played a vital role in bringing onboard its founding partners Barcelona City Council, the UPC and SEAT, as well as the rest of its local partners. In the words of Monika Bachofner, the Operations Director at EIT Urban Mobility: “CARNET has acted as the base of a triangle of knowledge in which the UPC/CIT UPC and SEAT act as a local knowledge community, with Barcelona City Council as part of the hub based on open innovation"... The Autonomous Driving Challenge in its Second edition

After three days of intense competition between the best Spanish universities in robotics and artificial intelligence, AUTOPIA from the Technical University of Madrid (UPM) has been crowned winner of the second edition of the Autonomous Driving Challenge. The UMAGarage team from the University of Málaga led throughout most of the competition but ended up in second place. The surprise was a tie for third place between AMUVAG from the University of Valladolid and UrBots from the Rovira i Virgili University. The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and the University of Vigo also participated in this second edition. Creative and inquisitive minds finding solutions and tools to address gentrification

As part of Smart City week, a three-day hackathon took place in Barcelona bringing together creative and inquisitive minds to find solutions and tools for the gentrification problem that affects the historic and tourist centres of Barcelona. The event was an initiative of the Barcelona City Council and the BIT, and organized by CARNET.
 
The Citython is an event at which small groups of young professionals search for innovative and creative solutions. It is an opportunity for students to come up with ideas that can be applied as a program, a prototype, a test model, a tool, a design solution or a concept... Read more...

Symposium 2018: Urban Mobility Challenges

CARNET, in collaboration with the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) and the Automotive Research Centre Niedersachsen (NFF), organised the symposium Challenges for Urban Mobility 2018, held on 12 November. The event brought together international experts who shared their views of Connectivity and 5G, Mobility as a Service and Data&Mobility. The speakers addressed how to deal with global challenges in urban mobility.
