MOBY – e-micromobility and safety in European cities
The MOBY project has started with the aim of improving the Integration of e-micromobility vehicles within European cities.
MOBY is designed to increase the usability of these new technologies (such as scooters, skateboards or unicycles), promote their integration with other transport modes, and take advantage of their potential by improving the safety of users and streets.
The MOBY project will last two years (2020-2021) and will be implemented in two stages.
In the first stage of the project, researchers will identify and analyse the main incentives and barriers to the implementation of e-micromobility vehicles in a way that is safe for users and sustainable for cities. Various studies will be carried out on the integration of electric mobility in urban mobility plans and use cases will be proposed to improve safety aspects of e-micromobility in cities.
In the second project stage, the various solutions from the first stage will be implemented by means of pilot tests, through “living labs” in cities that are members of the consortium.
The MOBY project is funded with 499,647 euros from the EIT Urban Mobility in its Business Plan (BP) 2020. CARNET is a participant. Other participants include SEAT, UnternehmerTUM GmbH and six further members.
