Hackathon Mobility Barcelona 2017

Following the great success of the inaugural Hackathon last year, on 11, 18 and 19 March CARNET held the second edition of “Hackathon Mobility Barcelona”, hosted again at the UPC in Barcelona.

This edition had a new extended format, with an additional session of techpills to challenge participants to address the automotive and mobility trends of the future.

Student teams enjoyed the opportunity to prove themselves and showcase their wide range of abilities. This Hackathon was not only a great learning and networking experience, but also an opportunity to help actively define the future of mobility and create a lasting impact. CARNET partners and sponsors highlighted the number of ideas and the quality of the projects that were presented.

A jury of automotive industry experts awarded the prizes, which were divided into 3 categories:

Thor, winner of the Smart mobility category, consisted of a new solution for services around microcities, in order to facilitate access to services around large parking areas in Barcelona (such as commercial areas).

Darth Vader, winner in the Drive experience with apps category, consisted of the development of an improved routine algorithm for multiple users, which aims to improve traffic congestion in the city.

Vegeta, winner in the Driving experience with hardware category, involved connectivity solutions between cars and cyclists using ibeacons technology, in order to prevent accidents.

We are grateful to SEAT, Altran, Barcelona City Council, the Big IoT European project and the UPC for their support.

As organiser of Hackathon Mobility Barcelona 2017, CARNET aims to strengthen its commitment to future talent and disruptive concepts for urban mobility.
