CARNET visits the NFF to strengthen collaboration

On 6–7 July, Professor Lluís Jofre, Professor Elisa Sayrol, Daniel Serra and Dr Monika Bachofner visited the facilities of the TU Braunschweig and Volkswagen Group Research in Braunschweig and Wolfsburg (Germany) in order to strengthen collaboration.

On their first day, they were kindly received by Professor Vietor, academic director of the NFF (Niedersächsisches Forschungszentrum Fahrzeugtechnik) and his staff who showed the visitors around the impressive research laboratories for vehicle engineering and autonomous driving. The NFF brings together a wide range of disciplines relating to future vehicle engineering trends, including mechanical and electronic engineering, informatics, chemistry, psychology, social sciences, construction and economics.

On the second day, they met Dr. Axel Heinrich, head of Volkswagen Research, at the Open Hybrid Lab Factory (OHLF) in Wolfsburg. The OHLF investigates lightweight materials and is the successful result of a Public-Private Partnership between the NFF and several industrial partners.
