        • The event brought together CARNET’s Founding Members, partner institutions and emerging companies in order to network and explore possibilities for collaboration

CARNET celebrated its CARNET Ecosystem Day on the 1st of February at CASA SEAT. The event brought together startups, CARNET’s founding members (SEAT S.A., Volkswagen Group Innovation and Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC)) and its industrial partners, as well as other relevant agents from the urban mobility and automotive field in order to consolidate the innovation ecosystem and keep it growing.

The opening was delivered by Gina Tost, Secretary for Digital Policies at the Government of Catalonia. Then, Stefan Ilijevic, Concept-Leader R&D at SEAT/CUPRA, and Alexander Siebeneich, Industrial Director at CARNET, explained the work and missions of their innovation teams, respectively in SEAT and VW GI. Finally, Astrid Wollenberg, Managing Director at VWGI Hub in Tel Aviv (Konnect), visiting Barcelona from Israel, brought Konnect’s success stories to the table and shared their journey in fostering innovation in the automotive sector based on their experience of collaboration with Israelis startups.

Startups that have been on the radar of CARNET’s scouting team were invited to participate and had an opportunity to explore opportunities for collaboration networking directly with all the ecosystem actors brought together on this occasion. Highlighted startups were given the occasion to deliver a 5-minute pitch in front of all the audience and showcase their innovative solutions.

The main objective of the event was to bring together CARNET’s innovation ecosystem and for the first time give the startups an opportunity to participate. Also, this event served as a platform for different stakeholders to share their challenges and needs, as well as exchanging experiences. The participants had an opportunity to get to know others actors of the ecosystem, its characteristics and different cooperation possibilities within it.

Through these events, CARNET seeks to boost innovation and collaboration within the automotive and mobility field, which will facilitate collaboration in the future and improve the sense of community between involved parties.
