Autonomy Mobility World Expo (AMWE), Paris 2023
CARNET attended last week the Autonomy Mobility World Expo in Paris, one of the main events dedicated to sustainable urban mobility solutions. Its mission is to participate in the transition to sustainable mobility by connecting innovators and policymakers dedicated to mobility and smart city development.
This was the 7th edition of this annual gathering of international policymakers, institutions, NGOs, corporations, companies and startups that hosts every year more than 200 exhibitors, more than 300 speakers and more than 8,000 participants.
CARNET participated in the event in search of new disruptive ideas and innovative startups in the field of urban mobility and automotive. It also supported the scouting tasks for the acceleration programmes they manage and for which the calls for applications were opened recently, that is the Scale-up Programme, E+ Mobility Accelerator, and UAM Plazza Accelerator.
On the first day, several promising startups delivered a pitch on the main stage and participated in the Startup Challenge. The following day, these companies competed in the Innovation Awards in several categories and Capgemini, one of CARNET’s industrial partners, won the Innovation Award in the “Mass Transit” category.
The event brought together many innovative companies in the mobility and electric vehicle sector that contribute to the development of new technologies that take great steps into the future. One example is French startup Gouach, the winner of one of the Startup Challenges in the category of EV fleets. It has developed a sustainable battery that breaks the trend of obsolescence, opacity and disposability. Its patented cell replacement system allows the battery to be built, repaired, reused and recycled an important development considering that electric car recycling is currently limited.
Another French startup that won the Startup Challenge in the Shared Mobility category was Datafolio. They are developing pay-as-you-go insurance that automatically covers all forms of mobility (bike, scooter, motorcycle, car). This presents a different approach to traditional insurtech models and has the potential to transform the way we currently think about insurance coverage for all forms of mobility.
After the great success of the Autonomy Mobility Summits held in Berlin and London, the Autonomy Barcelona Mobility Summit – Empowering Public Authorities with MaaS, is planned to be held on October 2023 in Barcelona. We are looking forward to this gathering, which will allow CARNET to keep exploring new startups and innovative mobility solutions that help improve the quality of life in cities and reduce the environmental impact of transportation.
