12 New Startups Join the Scale-up Programme for 2024
The Scale-up Programme, financed by EIT Urban Mobility, an initiative of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), a body of the European Union, kicks off its 2024 edition with the selection of 12 start-ups, who offer disruptive solutions for urban mobility challenges. The consortium behind the project will help these companies with tailored support to accelerate their growth, secure funding, and forge partnerships that will boost their business to the next level.
More than 100 applications were submitted by start-ups specialising in urban mobility from across Europe, proving that the offering from this programme is perceived as a significant aid in achieving company goals. Through the Scale-up Programme, the selected start-ups benefit from individualized business mentoring and training from specialised experts gaining access to investors and potential customers to expand their projects and explore new markets. Additionally, they are offered greater visibility through international high-level events such as Engaged Investments Conference (Prague, Czech Republic), Tomorrow.Mobility (Barcelona, Spain), or the programme closure at the Ultimate Demo Day (Munich, Germany), allowing participants to take part in networking sessions with potential investors.
For 2024, the 12 selected start-ups are:
- City Commuters: They produce city e-bikes in the spirit of legendary classic motorcycles, solving problems such as traffic jams or parking in big cities.
- Dotlumen: Dotlumen has patented a technology that navigates pedestrian environments like a self-driving car, avoiding obstacles, detecting crosswalks, and guiding visually impaired users towards destinations.
- PANTOhealth: They digitize railway maintenance in Europe, using sensors and AI to cut costs and address workforce shortages.
- Make My Day: They provide smart mobility solutions for electric vehicle drivers and fleets, cutting costs and CO2, and offering ROI from day one.
- Bib Batteries: Bib Batteries tracks battery data, optimizing repair, recycling, or second life to extend battery lifespan and reduce impact.
- Flasher: Flasher’s wearable tech boosts green micromobility, ensuring safety with haptic navigation and 360° visibility.
- Rhyde: Rhyde sells refurbished e-scooters and e-bikes at 50% off, promoting sustainable urban mobility with warranties.
- Aviant: Aviant’s VTOL drones excel in European last-mile delivery, completing 4,000+ flights and delivering critical goods.
- FlightOps: FlightOps’ AI platform automates drone flights, boosting efficiency, scalability, and safety across multiple sectors.
- AgeVolt: AgeVolt offers scalable, cost-effective EV charging via a sharing economy model, accelerating infrastructure growth.
- SiPow: SiPow’s energy-efficient silicon production reduces material use, waste, emissions, and energy with novel methods.
- DeepVolt: DeepVolt’s AI-powered SaaS helps identify profitable EV charging sites quickly, empowering clients to make informed decisions on the location of their future EV charging stations.
Participation in the Scale-up Programme provides a platform for these start-ups to show their potential to investors, customers, and partners at major European urban mobility events. Additionally, the participants benefit from support services valued at over €25,000 and provided by the programme partners, who will introduce these start-ups into the entrepreneurial ecosystem existing in Europe.
From previous editions, successful start-ups stand out that have achieved great growth such as Elonroad, that has been testing since September 2023, in collaboration with Vinci, a system that allows electric vehicles to charge while driving on the A10 motorway in the Aube; Hopu, a start-up recently acquired by Libelium, that develops solutions in the field of air quality, smart cities, and infrastructures; or Sparkpark, a company that is revolutionising sustainable urban transportation with high-precise micromobility parking and that has just kicked off its ParkedByMe project, awarded with over 500,000€ to test their solution in Prague and Madrid.
The Scale-up Programme is financed by EIT Urban Mobility and led by CARNET, with the collaboration of PowerHub, Fraunhofer Society for the Advancement of Applied Research, UnternehmerTUM, and Niedersächsisches Forschungszentrum Fahrzeugtechnik (NFF).
